Nearly all of the research letters are mailed the day after I receive the request. The only exception occurs when I am traveling. I have no trips planned before Christmas. So, there is plenty time to order a letter and receive it by Christmas.
If you want to give a letter as a gift, please provide the recipient's name and address and indicate if you want me to send the letter to you so that you can give the letter to the owner of the shotgun.
