I own an L.C.Smith Field Gage double barrel shotgun that I purchased from my wife's grandfather around 1970. While the stock varnish failed somewhat I had a gunsmith remove it and apply a hand rubbed oil finish. He also removed some very slight minor surface rust and gave it an excellent condition rating. The serial number is 18289. What can you tell me and what it's value might be today for insurance purposes.
