Hello Brian Bush, The L C Smith hammergun in the pictures that you attached is a fairly large looking L C Smith hammergun. It is possible that this old L C Smith is an antique 10 gauge shotgun. These original 10 gauge shotguns were also known as 10 bore shotguns. They used a 10 gauge shell that was much shorter then our modern 10 gauge shotguns. DO NOT EVER FIRE A MODERN 10 GAUGE SHOTGUN SHELL IN THIS OLD 10 GAUGE IF IT IS A 10 GAUGE. Does a 12 gauge shotgun shell fit in the chamber of this old L C Smith with a little room to spare??? Does a 12 gauge shotgun shell wiggle around just a little bit when chambered??? Good Shooting To You, Jent
