Earliest Fulton hammer gun Archived Message

In the first picture that Craig posted, that hammer gun in my serial number list is the first one that I have for a Fulton gun. It is listed on the tag as made in 1895 but is from 1889. A true Transition hammer gun, all the attributes of a Syracuse gun, squared barrel lug, fine details, fine checkering 22-24 lines per inch, large convex ribs on receiver, great cheek carving, BUT no makers name on barrels. Hammer guns in the 25,000, 26,6xx range all have these features, after this the round lug is present and the checkering is 16-18 lpi., and the fine details are gone. Most still have no makers name on barrels. In researching these and hammerless guns, there were no hammerless guns produced in this era between 1889 to sometime in 1890 and then started at serial number 30,000 again sometime in 1890. My earliest is 30028 and again has all the attributes of a Syracuse hammerless gun except has no engraving like the Syracuse Quality 2's.
