    I think based on your description, you are talking about a "new" style safety. But, for your information and future reference, there are two types and each is a little different. See below:



    In either case, if your replaced the safety stud w/a new or used part, some fitting may be required.

    As suggested above, put the gun together w/out the stock. Screw together and space the top tang and bottom trigger guard plate to the approximate distace it is when assembled w/stock (I use a small fit block of wood). See how things line up and file to fit if/when necessary. Each gun is slight different..so fitting a new part is a normal process.

    If it works, you may just need to play around getting it together. Usually you can tell when it hits the mark before screwing everything together.
