Basic Rules for the Side x Side trapshooting event. 1. 12 gauge or smaller, may use sub gauge tubes but no shell larger than 12 gauge (Sorry to the 10 gauge shooters, but the club rules prohibit anything larger). 2. No shot size larger than 7 1/2 allowed. 3. Once on the field, only load one shell in the gun at a time and do not close the gun until it is your turn to shoot, this is for safety reasons since there are 5 people on the trapline at a time. 4. After 5 shots the the shooters move one station to the right, the shooter on station 5 walks behind the other shooters to station one and shooting resumes until everyone on that squad shoots 5 shots at each station. 5. There are two allowable failures to fire per 25 targets, for any reason (ammo malfunction, gun malfunction, safety on, etc) any failure to fire afterward will be scored as a lost target. The only exception is if a broken target is thrown from the machine. 6. Broken targets will not be scored, hit or missed, the shooter will receive another target to shoot. 7. In trapshooting only lost targets are called by the scorekeeper, at the end of each station of 5 targets the scorekeeper will announce the score for each person, if there is a challenge to the announced score it must be noted and resolved before the shooter leaves the current station, once a shot has been fired on the next station the score cannot be challenged. If anyone has any other questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them. Mike
