I have what seems to be a No. 2 Grade shotgun with a serial number (94211)that would make it as being manufactured in 1927. Did they make this grade that late? If not, it is a member of a block of guns for which the serial numbers have been lost to time, yes?
Again it matches the description for a #2 almost perfectly. It has the same "decoration" as this site describes, though a bob white on one side and not a duck on the other, but a wood cock. It also has an inlay of what looks to be a Labrador head on the forestock.
Is there any one tring to "reconstruct" the missing blocks of serial numbers or is that too herculean a task?
