    Two points:

    1. I have fired more than 1,00 rounds of "light reloads" in Dmascus and twist barreled SxS's with zero probems.

    2. I think it is important, and worthwhile, to have a competent gunsmith reinforce the wrist and tang area of older SxS's with epoxy bedding, if the gun is to be fired often. Properly done, it is not visible on the assembled shotgun. I think this is particularly helpful on L.C. Smith's and Lefever's; but also on older boxlocks. Remember you are often dealing with century-old wood.
