Hello All, Had the pleasure of meeting a new Elsie shooter who had contacted me for insight about an old family gun that he intends to shoot with us in Sanford this year. A very nice, 30" VR Crown Grade gun with BTFE, HOT, PG and an oval gold stock shield below the wrist. The only thing that didn't sit as perfectly normal (other than the possibly added on stock shield) was the lack of the precious metal inlay. The joint between the rib and extension is filled, and blued, with the chain/roped texture that would look perfectly normal if it were gold, but it is not gold or silver. The owner suggested from reading somewhere that VR barrels did not get the precious metal bar treatment. Is this correct? Thanks, John
