    I don't have an opinion on the example you've presented, but I do in general on this topic. Worth it for a run of the mill field grade? Probably not, but if you were looking to develop your skill then you would start with those first.

    If there are high grade fakes, then there must also be lower grade examples. I've asked about items like this in the past, and before too long someone comes along with a photo of a similar example as evidence of authenticity. The answer I've received is that a lot of people, even collectors, are happy to pay for a quality fake and nobody really cares about the lower grades because the average buyer in that market isn't interested enough to be informed on the differences.

    What I've learned about LC Smith's, and this is a bit of a turnoff for me, is that there was no system to maintain consistency with their number stamps. There are 3 or 4 different font styles.
