Irvin, I say Amen to Pastor C. I had Briley install Bismuth/Lead Thin Wall choke tubes in a ca. 1927 Field Grade I formerly owned. It was not collectors quality but a very sound gun with Full and Imp Cycl. fixed chokes. Briley did an excellent job----BUT I always regretted altering the gun. After learning more about shotgun shells I know Pastor C is spot on. You can alter the number of pellets the gun puts in a 30" circle @ 40 yards by reloading your own shells and using Spreader Wads, Bush Wads, harder or softer shot, etc. All of this can be done at a fraction of the cost of the tubes and you won't alter the gun. My vote is 100% with Pastor C. Before anyone considers having choke tubes installed in a fixed choked (classic) shotgun I strongly recommend they purchase and read Bob Brister's 1975 classic "Shotgunning-The Art and Science". It is still in print.
