Odd looking serial numbers Archived Message

I guess I am becoming more paranoid about "condition" and originality when it come to guns selling on our internet broker sites. Often they are not what they are purported to be. I am curious about the serial number stamp on this 1925 (?)field grade. The numbers look like they were stamped in a jig..all perfectly lined up...unlike most of the Smith's that I have that look individually stamped and often crooked. More importantly, the numbers look to have been filled and re-stamped to match the receiver...could this have been done at the factory? Or is this just an anomaly? Or am I nuts?
