In an article by our own Dr. Jim Stubbendieck and Dr. Drew Hause in the Double Gun Journal titled "Long Range Hyperbole", volume Twenty Four Issue 1 Spring 2013, the picture showing the duck with a few pellets was my Longrange gun. The testing was done at 81 yards, gun resting on the hood of my truck. The chokes are both .041 constriction in a 32" barrel. The re-load was as close as I could come to a factory 3" load for back then.

The first thing I must say is, at this range the 30" circle with the duck in it looked like a starling. My first shot I aimed, yes aimed not pointed right at the center of the circle. This had the fewest pellets in the circle, 13 but had the most in the duck. The other two I aimed at the top of the circle. I used nickel plated #5 shot because that is what I had, and there were pellets imbedded in the pressure treated 2" x 2" posts flush with the wood.
I only fired 3 shells, the heat and recoil were enough for me, two from the right and the other from the left barrel.

This gun came from the factory with a Hunter One Trigger and ejectors and is one of 30 made in this configuration in a Field Grade, if my memory serves me. No recoil pad.

As for anything special done to the boring, not in this one and another one I had. The bores in both guns were .729. The chambers measured 2 15/16" in length. In the whole length of the bores it measured .729 till about 2 3/4" from muzzle. Choke area was parallel for 1" and then tapered to bore. Both Longranges measured the same, except the other one had Modified in the right barrel.

I agree with you Doug, I would never, ever change the choke in this gun. I have other guns that have the same boring and choke.

Jent does way more shooting then I do or most of us do, and he has guns specially done for his type of shooting, plus with his long arms, I can't even shoulder his guns and reach the trigger.
