1905 12 ga.; Field Grade; Armor barrels... I have friends who are horrified that I'd have a 1905 shotgun that I'd actually shoot. They claim that simply because it's old, it's not safe to shoot. I contend that, unless the gun has been abused, has dented or crooked barrels or other mechanical fault, the metal of the gun does not change over time and is safe to shoot with loads intended for it. I freely admit that I'm not a metallurgy expert but believe that time alone does not adversely affect metal on a molecular level so that it's unsafe. True or false?
