I was talking with my brother the other day about Elsie's and that they are for shooting clays, birds and rabbits. I told him you can shoot buckshot! That is were my story begins, I have been researching the subject the last few days (in between Muzzle-loading) about shooting my 12ga 30" full choke FW s/n listed manufactured in 1920 @ 85-90% Fluid Steel. A couple things i've found out and a couple questions also. According to the FAQ on this web site a 12ga is hang tagged listed as 12 gauge: 3 dram 1 1/4 oz. shot (1887 - about 1920) 3 dram 1 1/8 oz. shot (after 1920). Q1: Is this black-powder weights? Q2: If this chart is for black-powder equivalent of smokeless powder @ the time how does compare with the powders of today? I saw Remington has out a new low power 2-3/4" 00-9(approx 1oz) buckshot with 3 drams @ 1200fps. Q3: because I don't reload would this be a candidate to shoot use deer hunting? Any conversation or help in this matter is most appreciated.. Thanks, Jim
