    Keri, it would help to know if your husband's gun is a Featherweight or Regular weight. If it has FW and then the serial number it is a Featherweight and an R serial number would be Regular frame.
    The reason is the screws on the Regular frame are longer.

    The cocking plate screw is 4-40 threads and is 1/4' long round head that can be purchased at a decent hardware store.
    The for-end tip screws on the early guns about 1" long, on the later ones, about 3/4".
    The top tang to trigger plate housing screw is a tapered shank screw, but the head is slanted to the shape of the top tang and the screw driver slot should be orientated to the length (barrels).
