    Kathie,
Like SGT stated, look on the barrels and I am almost sure you will see L.C. Smith Maker and then on the other barrel Syracuse, N.Y.

The patent dates would be March 29,'83, July 13,'86 and Oct.5,'86 and #2 would be the grade.
The barrels listed then were either 30" or 32" and for the Grade 2 would be Good Damascus. The only guages available then were 10 ga. or 12 ga.(according to catalogs)

As for value, these Syracuse guns are getting harder and harder to find in decent condition and on most auction sites are going for $1000-$1900. Condition is everything and being on an auction and wanting that price doesn't mean they will get it.

If a Syracuse gun, and I'm sure it is, the year would be 1887 and probably from the second quarter of 1887.

By the way, that is another serial number to add to the list, thanks. If you don't mind posting the length of barrels and guage I would appreciate that. You could email me or just post it here. Again thanks.
