    Hunter One-Trigger- why not auto return safety Archived Message

    In case any one was interested or wondering why the safety is independant and not automatic these pictures should explain it.
    In the first picture, in this case the safety is "ON", but right barrel when fired, there is plenty of room between the top tang and the spur lever of the trigger firing plate.


    Second photo shows how far the trigger has to travel for the second barrel in order for the firing plate to cantact the sear. As you can see in the photo now there is no room for the safety push rod, also this area had to be milled out for the spur lever because it was hitting the top tang.


    In Brophy's book on page 174 it shows a 1906 with the two-piece top tang that didn't need to be milled out, probably because it was not as thick.

    The sideplates don't look as bad as they do in the picture, just glare.
