I recently discovered your site and will be joining this week I look forward to continuing my education in American double guns.
I have a Smith 20 gauge Field Grade, Serial #50286. The Right Barrel is marked L.C. Smith-20GA-Field Fulton, NY, USA.
There are no markings on the left barrel. The lock plates are each marked L.C. Smith. Water table is stamped Field 2 3/4 IN Chamber and FWS. The gun is not marked Hunter Arms at any Location on the outside. (I measure the Chokes at IM-F. 1 3/8"X2 3/8", barrels at 28". I am curious as there are no Hunter Arms Markings is this unusual? The gun appears to have been refinished but done well so I can't believe that someone could have polished off the Hunter Arms marking. There is a proof mark or Cartouche which is a Square that contains what appears to be an M; above the M appears the letter P, under the M on the left appears the letter A and on the right CO. I would appreciate any information I can get thank you.
