I have available a serial number matching forend iron and wood. They are ideal grade, featherweight, ejector type. Serial number FWE26079.
The iron has a complete ejector and j-spring mechanism. The iron is drilled for the roller release but the associated parts are not included. The engraved portion of the iron shows no case color and appears somewhat shiny. There is some light chipping of the metal where it may have contacted the underside of the receiver in the breech open position. Enough chipping to create a rough feel to the metal edge.
The wood has a banjo cut-out and ebony insert. The checkering is smooth overall and there are two spots where the pattern is non-existent. Some wood replacement on the interior may be necessary adjacent to the banjo screw hole. The wood does not show any external cracks near the rear forend screws. There is one hairline crack on the inside at one of the rear forend screws. The serial number is clearly visible.
Despite my description above, the pieces are pretty nice. In this forum I prefer to list all the negatives, so no one is disapointed. A Cody record search shows this piece is from a 12 gauge circa 1920. If interested contact me at lbzmse@verizon.net
