Forgot to mention that this Monogram that had the spacer repair at the appex of the left lockplate was said to be the same straight gripped Monogram pictured in Brophy's book. I forgot that until this morning when I was reviewing some other items in that book.
Indeed on page 57, there is a picture of a Monogram and if you look behind the lockplate in the lower picture, you can see a dark area in the shape of a rectangle. That is exactly how this gun appeared. I can't verify that they are the same two guns, but that is the story that went with it.
