Questionable Specialty Grade- Please Help Archived Message

I am going to try and post some pictures first.

    What is going on here?
Several things just don't seem right to me. The wood seems to be a restock? The recoil pad seems added, the beads don't look original. The gun locks up real tight and the bores are shiny and spotless. It looks like the choke has been opened up. There are circular reamer marks at the muzzle end of both barrels. The barrels are 32 inches. It has a vent rib with an alminum mid bead and some kind of red front bead. Also the tang screw under the break open lever looks buggered as well as one of the side plate screws. Does the S in the serial number indicate one of the later years of manufacture?

Even though the forum rules say not to ask values.........
What is your opinion of this gun? I am supposed to make an offer on it but I know nothing of its history. Please let me know your thoughts on this potential purchase.

    Thanks

    John Harris
