Ralph: John also says (on p. 391) "Shooters should measure their chambeers carefully on all 16 and 20 gauge guns." Numerous 16g Smith and Fulton guns have been identified with 2 9/16" chambers as late as 1939 and the 1936 enginnering drawing on that same page shows the 16g chamber to be 2 9/16".
