While tuning up for my trip to England week after next,I shot a pheasant circle shoot last week and then two rounds of sporting clays today - a total of about 225 11/8 oz light game loads through the gun. I had about 8 or 10 miss fires on the right barrel, but worse, upon cleaning, I found the bottom rib just forward of the for end tang had come loose for a distance of about 2". There is movement in the rib and the solder has clearly broken on both sides.
I guess this is a sign that need to have the stock glass beaded and the workings gone over to make it ready for the next 80 years. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Unfortunately, I will have to use one of my brother-in-law's Stephan Grant - nice but not a Smith!
