I once completely stripped and cleaned my Model 3200 Skeet gun and lubricated everything with Break Free CLP. That made everything so slick that the recoil of a 12-gauge skeet load would bounce the bolt open and the gu would begin to open!!! Cleaned the gun again completely with Gun Scrubber, and went back to G-96 and never had the problem again.
Many years ago I was in the vault of a serious double gun collector -- six Parker Bros. .410-bores, three L.C. Smith .410-bores, 20-gauge Super-Fox, etc. -- and asked what the distinctive smell was? He said it was G-96, so for more then 30 years that what I have used on my old smokepoles.
After I retired and moved out to Washington State, Keith Kearcher recommended a product called EEZOX to me when I was picking up a couple of guns he had worked on. http://www.EEZOX.info
