Mark, Over the years, many of our "sweet Elsies" tend to shrink/swell secondary to humidity and/or oil soaking into the head of the stock. Hence Morris' concern. Having a reliable sxs person check things out is certainly a good idea. Remember screws can also be over tightened and cause the wood to split also. Also having the right "turn-screws" as the Brits say is invaluable. Sooner or later if you shoot your "lady" much you will be "into her" to do some needed TLC/repair. Best, Dr. BILL
