    John if the fore end can be removed from the barrels with out rolling the release towards the muzzle than yes that little spring is probably worn or broken or both. You can see the spring in the picture under the roller release.
    If you are like me, you can take it apart and go to a hardware store that has a supply of springs and reference it to one of theirs. Cut to size and there you go. Just make sure it is the same wire thickness and diameter. By the time you pay Numrichs shipping, you could buy 20 of them.
