The Briley tubes work just fine to keep the barrel walls from bursting or splitting but you still have to worry about pressure against the breech faces from modern 12,000 psi ammo. Older guns were not designed for anywhere near that pressure and you are fooling yourself if all you worry about is pressure against the sidewalls of the barrels.
