Patrick, your gun was made in 1893. I believe at this time L.C. Smith had sold out to John Hunter and he moved the company to Fulton. I have a Quality 2 12 ga. circa 1895 that has no markings on the barrels or rib either. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can explain it. I know from past articles that serial numbers do not match years in that they were shipped, sometimes up to 3 years difference.
