    Hey Jim,
Well! Out of jail indeed. I was a single man in those days (even if your grad students weren't). I am now happily retired from Uncle Sugar and we farm in the San Luis Valley. I sent you an email awhile back but you must have missed it. I guess you knew that Tom and Pete II both finished their Ph D's under John Foster and both work for Monsanto now.
In my original note to you I mentioned we have our place right next to the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge and it appears the drought has left us and ducks are returning. Will trade ducks for pheasants!
Yes, I have this 16 ga LC field grade I paid top dollar for but it's worth every penny. Very high condition. FYI, my unsung hero is a CEO grade 1894 Remington my grandpa special ordered in 1902. I promised my dad I would have it restored but unfortunately he passed away at age 94 before I got it back from Turnbull's. It's a shame these beauty's (even if they are boxlocks) never caught on as much as some brands. I guess that's due to scarcity since only 40,000 or so were ever made in all grades. The thing is gorgeous and the folks at Turnbull's are true wizards. I hope to show it to you some day.
Good to hear from you and hope to meet up some time. Might be heading to Nebraska this fall to hunt pheasant with Dan Rochford, my old pal who retired from Ne G&P in North Platte.
    Take care,
    Pete
