I have been researching various little tid bits on L.C. Smiths lately. I noted on my Trap Grade that it had a checkered trigger. I have spoke with a few other L.C. Smith collectors and have thus learned it was an option, but was mostly found on the higher graded guns.
I have looked (although not in depth yet) at the various books I have on Smith's, etc...but have failed to see when this became an option...and was it an option through out production? What was the cost to have this added? Lastly...are they indeed fairly uncommon to find, especially on grade guns such as my Trap Grade.
To be honest...I didn't catch the checkered trigger on my Trap grade until I actually mounted the gun and had my finger on the trigger, I then felt it. It had slipped my eyes when I first examined the gun upon purchase. Needless to say it was a nice "extra".
