A few weeks back, I posted an inquiry on the the authenticity of a set of barrels on a Pigeon grade I was looking at. Convinced now that the barrels are originals and the balance of the gun is outstanding. I bought the gun with a good trade combination. This Tues. I bump into the guy at the gun club and he tells me he has good news. He forgot to tell me there is another set of barrels for the Pigeon!!!! and he has them in the truck. Was that ever a head trip. NOW, I get to see the xtra set. It's gorgeous chain damascus, 28", mirror bores, Cyl/IC, fits like a glove, tight/on face and it shares the forearm of the original 30" nitro steel barrel. But....Its serial number[8799 2E] as opposed to the original gun is 200146. Appears as they are 1902 and 03 DOM. Questions? Would the factory fit a set of barrels like this or were they probably put on by an independent? They have an absolute perfect fit, down to the ejectors. Damascus is perfect, Ivory beads, front and mid the same as on the original. The barrels look like they were put on yesterday. With such work to make the match so perfect, why not match the serial numbers?,or put your name on the work? Barrel flats have on the SN and 2E. Any thoughts on 2nd barrels that weren't purchased originally as a set. Randy
