    Specialty Grade Archived Message

I recently purchased a 12 gauge LC Smith. the S/N is RE 122350. This S/N indicates it was manufactured in 1903. The shotgun is as follows.
    Weight 8lbs 4 oz
Barrels are 32" and are marked Specialty grade
    Beaver forend
    Straight stock
    Raised vent rib
    Single trigger
    Ejectors
S stamped on the frame under the S/N
All S/N's match (Barrels, Receiver, Forearm, Trigger gaurd)
The gun is in very nice condition, which leads me to believe that it was made later then 1903 as I understand the Specialty grade was not made until after 1913. The frame engraving does match what I understand was on the Specialty grade. Flying duck on right side and two quail on the left.
I will be ordering a research letter tomorrow, but would like any information anyone might share on the gun.
    Thanks Phil
