    I'm not sure I understand your question; but the angle ("straightness") of the top strap was indeed impacted by the degree of drop ordered by a customer. Since most trap shooters desired their stock pitched higher for an advantage on rising target, the typical trap gun top strap would be "higher" than the typical field grade with its two and three-quarter to 3" drop. Also, the fact that top straps do vary in height is one of the factors that makes stock inter-changeability so difficult. As to the two-piece top strap, I've never seen that feature on a feather-weight Smith frame; and it was eventually dropped from regular frame production, which improved the gun by strengthing the top strap.
