Mike, I'm glad to hear that you rescued another sweet old "elsie". Sounds like a great gun, and especially with two barrels. On the part of the gun not opening after firing, the only thing I can think of would be that one of or both of the ejector springs is broken. On non ejector guns there is a cocking plate that pushes on the cocking rods when opened. On ejector guns the kicker spring (s) along with the kickers push on that side of the cocking rod levers and eject the shell and re-cock the gun on opening. I would carefully take the wood from the forend and look and see that the springs are not broken. You will have to take out the two tip screws on the end by the kickers and naturally the escutcheon screw. If it is the springs let us know. It's not that hard to replace them, I have found a hardware store that carries the springs in a longer length that I cut down to size. Good luck and keep us posted, and I hope that you will join us.
