One competent SXS gunsmith in Illinois is Steve Downes. He does a large number of restoration jobs. He is located in Sterling, IL -(South & West of Rockford). He can be reached at (815)622-9535.
Numerous references are available. He works on many American, English and Italian SxS's; both antique and contemporary.
