    Ed, kind of tough deciphering your post-no punctuation. Seems you have a couple of questions. (1) Replace front sight. It is a pressure fit so it pulls out. If unable to do that, file flat and center drill it, then enlarge hole and tap to 3X56 or 6x48, the common bead threads. (2) Recoil pad. Period pads are fine for authenticity but rotten for absorbing recoil. Depends what you want, authenticity or comfort. 4th generation pads-Kick-EZZ, Hi-Viz, Limbsaver are all out of sorbathane and very efficient. Best way to put on pad is to take it to someone who does it frequently. Good luck, Dr. BILL
