I agree whole heartedly with you. I see no need to change the format or add additional rules to exclude certain individuals. I lent the gun that the supposed "ringer" used for his qualifying round. I don't see how he was considered a "ringer", but what I do see is a prospective new member to this fine organization that had fun in his attempt to make the team. This young man was a very appreciative and respectful person. He was a good shot, but not quite good enough. I was fortunate enough to make the Smith Team this year. I am by no means a professional shooter nor do I even attend any shoots. I shoot for fun in the back yard when I get the time. As I looked around I spotted several spectators who had attempted to make their team but did not. I will leave out their names but some of them were very accomplished shooters with thousands of more rounds of 5-stand under their belts than I. This proves that no matter how good you shot yesterday or last year, it's how good you shoot on Qualification Day. I am proof that anyone can make the team. The whole basis of the Challenge Cup is to have fun and to enjoy our old shotguns, not bicker about who won and why.
