    I came across this gun last fall. A friend offered it to me as trade for some artwork (I'm a working sporting artist) and after taking a look at some photos, I agreed to take a look. I finally got my hands on the gun this spring, and all I can say is that I've been smitten...

    It's a 16 gauge #4 grade (as far as we've been able to figure out) built for an A.M. Marshall in 1909. Marshall was an entrepreneur and philanthropist in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul at the turn of the century: a lot of public buildings in the cities have his money in them.

    I am anxiously awaiting hunting season (despite going into the best dry fly season of the year...)and the opportunity to take the old girl out where she belongs: there's a couple grouse and woodcock coverts in northern Wisconsin where she'll be right at home!
