By profession and calling, I've learned to hope for the best but expect the worst in folks, and have had plenty of experience with both. The question could have been worded better, but is legitimate. Membership in PictureTrail cost Beth and I a small amount of money and we have another account with them for our mission trip pictures under Grace Medical Missions. I started accumulating stuff before John's book was released, and obviously now much of what is up isn't really needed. My only desires are to add to his incredible scholarship and research and also document a few things he did not cover in depth.
I have no commercial/financial interest whatsoever in any of the PictureTrails and have liberally 'borrowed' from other websites and internet forums, and felt this was not inappropriate from what are in the public domain. For the record, I have not scanned and posted any pictures from John's book (Tom sent me a few that are in the book) and I most certainly have no intention of publishing a book.
I'm particularly proud to have been able to recover Dr Oscar Gaddy's damascus pics with the help of Dave Miles, all of which had been lost from the DoubleGunBBS Forum. I hope the 'Disassembly and Reassembly' PictureTrail has helped someone get their gun back together, and the 'Repairs and Restorations' pics given someone confidence that their in-many-pieces gun can be made whole again.
This has been great fun, and I hope members of the LCSCA will continue to generously offer their pics as we, together, add to the fund of knowledge regarding these wonderful guns. I'd just as soon end the discussion here, and will not respond to further questions.
