If the gun was originally shipped with two sets of barrels, the length of each set will be noted on the shipping ledger within the barrel column. What you have observed means that the second barrel set was added by Hunter Arms at a later date, which adding/replacing barrels was a service Hunter provided through-out its existence. The fact that the fluid steel barrels are a later addition can usually, and easily be determined by examing engraving detail; as there will be subtle differences within the engraving cuts, coverage, style, etc. Finally, it is not uncommon to find pre-1920 Specialty Grade Smith guns with Damascus barrels.
