    Several things Tom:
    1. If I understand your post, you have a single barrel trap? The SBT was introduced in 1917. The receiver should have a letter indicating the grade. The Olympic trap was not introduced until 1928.
    2. The period appropriate pad would be a 'Silvers' style. The Galazan Silvers-style is quite firm (but looks great.) It's available in 1" and 1 1/2" if you need a longer LOP. www.connecticutshotgun.com I like the Brownells London Guns English-Style Recoil Pad Item # 535-300-100 (large) It has more 'give' than the Silvers. The Pachmayr Old English D752 doesn't look quite as 'age appropriate' but definitely absorbs recoil. Check www.brownells.com
    3. John Gillette of "Classic guns Inc." has the original engneering working spec's. for caseing the L.C. Smith http://www.classicgunsinc.com/
