One LC Smith problem seems to be fixed Archived Message

    Hi,

Just wanted to post a follow up to a post I made a week or so ago and a thank you for the suggestions on fixing up a couple of problems I was having with a well used 20 guage FW.

The big issue was that the gun was partially breaking open when I fired it (using appropriate loads). I received several good suggestions but what seems to have fixed it was replacing the bolt. I purchased a replacement bolt from Numrich and installed it yesterday. Tried it out this morning and it stayed locked tight using the same loads as before. I did notice some wear on the original bolt so am pretty sure this was the problem. Will do some more extensive testing later.

Another issue with this gun has to do with the ejectors. If I fire both barrels both ejectors work perfectly. If I fire the left barrel the left ejector work perfectly. If I fire just the right barrel and break the gun open the ejector does not eject the shell. I believe the ejector is firing on the right barrel but firing too soon (a timing issue?) and so the empty cartrige is not going anywhere. Again, if I fire both barrels and break the gun open both barrels eject perfectly. Any ideas or suggestion on what might be causing this issue and how to fix this.

    Thanks again,
    Ron
