Nothing is ever absolute with Hunter Arms! I have a Pigeon grade,ejector, single trigger gun with two sets of barrels. It was originally built in 1909 with 28" chain damascus barrels, and was later fitted with a 30" set of crown steel barrels in 1927. I think that the normal practice was as Tom says, but the ledger page for this gun has a note showing the extra set of barrels and the date they were done.
