I have found a 16 gauge field grade Hunter Arms LC Smith in a local pawn shop. I am going to buy it, mechanically it appears sound. But the forend has a strange downward turn at the end, and I have never seen one like it. It has nice checkering on both fore end and buttstock, and they are a matched set. Is there any way to tell if they are original? Did "field grade guns come with such fancy wood?
