Al, I don't know if your serial number falls into the area of no records, but it seems that in between 1888-1900 there are no records of hammer guns. The grade is F, which came in 3 grade styles, the lowest priced has the Royal Steel barrels. In 1901 the price was $20.00 The patent date of March 29, 1883, I don't know, but March 20, 1883, was a patent date for "breech loading mechanism"
