I recently purchased a Specialty grade 16ga.28" with double triggers,extractors, and a Curtis forend fastener. The gun is in 95%+condition, serial # 18,572. My question is, does anyone know about the Dog's head insert in the forend? It appears to be that of a Setter and is about .75in in diameter. I have researched the new book and can find nothing on this type of escution.Is this something that was a factory option or some type of aftermarket decoration? The Dog's head appears to be made of a hard material not unlike that of an L C Smith butt plate. I don't belive it is ebony. Thanks for any help
