    What is it? Archived Message

Found a gun this week that I can't figure out what it is or how to value it. It is an L.C. Smith, 10 gauge, hammer gun, stub twist barrel, serial number 11722, with an "F" stamped on the water table.

According to this web site the gun was manufactured in 1919. But according to the Blue Book the F grade was only made until 1913. I was wondering if it was possibly a "Quality F" grade made between 1884-1902 but the serial number is to low for this to be possible. I do not believe this gun was manufactured in 1919.

This gun is not pretty but is mechanically sound. I need to find out just what it is and when it was manufactured. I know I can send a letter to Cody but I haven't had much success with that.

    Any ideas/comments?

    Thanks
