I have an L.C. Smith Specialty trap gun made in 1925 or 26 (can't recall which). In reading the new LC Smith book, it is mentioned that the "Made by Hunter Arms.............." was not stamped on one of the barrels in the 40's after the takeover by L.C. Smith Gun Co., which makes perfect sense. My gun does have the "L C Smith Specialty Grade stamped on one barrel, but nothing on the other. All numbers match, and all the engraving remains very clear on the breech end of the barrels, so I doubt that there was a very light stamping that may have disappeared as the result of a reblue. Any thoughts as to why the Hunter Arms stamping would be missing on a 1920's gun?
