    The only information currently available is the number of guns produced in each gauge for each grade. Many of the record books do not contain enough detail to determine the number of SST, straight grips, etc. In fact, not all contain basic information beyond the barrel length.

    I believe that a long-term goal should be to put all of the records into an electronic data base. This would be a large (over 500,000 records) and expensive project. David Kennedy, Curator of the Cody Firearms Museum, and I are discussing the feasibility of such a project.

    Going through the records to recover the relatively easy to extract data on gauges and grades for the new L.C. Smith book was not an easy project, so we have an idea of what we may be up against.
